I’m a size 22 and I’m swimming naked

by Pip Giles from A Quaintrelle Life

The Cardboard Courage Project

by Jen McLellan from Plus Size Mommy Memoirs

Cardboard Courage was started last year by community members of the Plus Size Mommy Memoirs —  “…women of all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages came forward to participate with the Cardboard Courage project. This project aims to redefine the beauty standards that the media keeps pushing upon us.  By stripping down, these women were empowered to stand courageously behind the messages they held up.  Messages of body love, beauty, and strength.” [via Plus Size Mommy Memoirs]

We need to be exposed to these type of projects/visuals on a daily basis…Yes! to seeing more women unashamed of loving their bodies.

“How Posing in a Swimsuit Changed Me Forever”

by Pia Schiavo-Campo from Chronicles of a Mixed Fat Chic

Sorella Swim‘s new campaign “Sisters of All Sizes” is directed toward women of all shapes and it’s absolutely beautiful. In this reflective post Pia shares with us how being part of this wonderful campaign changed her —  “This experience made me put my money where my mouth is. All the positive body talk in the world is meaningless unless I truly believe it myself. Now when I tell other women to love their bodies — to set themselves free, I can speak from multiple experiences of having to walk the walk.”  [via Chronicles of a Mixed Fat Chic]

Photoshopping Real Women Into Cover Models

This photoshop experiment teaches a lesson on appreciating your “natural” beauty, flaws and all — “The team at BuzzFeed invited four women to participate in a professional photoshoot, then asked a Photoshop expert to make them look like “cover models.” And though the end results were conventionally “beautiful,” the women who modeled were unnerved by the results.” [via Huffington Post]

Lupita Nyong’o beautifully discusses black beauty

During her acceptance speech for breakthrough performance at the Essence Magazine Black Women In Hollywood luncheon Lupita discussed her path to self-acceptance — “And so I hope that my presence on your screens and in the magazines may lead you, young girl, on a similar journey.
